The inaugural Patriot Invitational, hosted at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mt. Laurel, NJ, brought over 100 guests raising over $100,000 on behalf of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Quantum Leap Farm. Vice Admiral Joseph Maguire, USN (Ret.) attended as VIP Guest Speaker. Joe Maguire became the President and CEO of The Special Operations Warrior Foundation in September 2013; having served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors for the previous three years.
He was a career Naval Special Warfare Officer (SEAL) and retired from the United States Navy in 2010 having served 36 years in uniform. He commanded at every level to include the Naval Special Warfare Command, the Navy Component of United States Special Operations Command. His last assignment in government was Deputy Director for Strategic Operational Planning in the National Counterterrorism Center, Washington, DC. While in this position, he was a member of the National Security Council’s Counterterrorism Security Group. Prior to leading the Foundation, he was a Vice President with Booz Allen Hamilton.
Also in attendance was Jacob Healy Centeno, Special Operations Warrior Foundation Graduate. Jake is the son of Navy SEAL Senior Chief Petty Officer Daniel Healy who was killed on June 28, 2005 when his helicopter was shot down in a rescue attempt as portrayed in the book and film, Lone Survivor. Jake is one of the many SOWF graduates and continues to give back to the community, carry on his dad’s legacy, and mentor other gold star children.
