Bridging the Gap Between Veterans and the Community
Over 200 guests gathered for a third year to support The Patriot Invitational raising over $340,000. Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Edward C. Byers, Jr. of the United States Navy joined as the Guest Speaker. Senior Chief Byers is the 6th Navy SEAL in history to receive the Medal of Honor. Byers has 11 overseas deployments with nine combat tours. His personal decorations are extensive and include Bronze Star with Valor (five awards) and the Purple Heart (two awards) among many others. Another highlight of the evening included Paws Healing Heroes of The Griffin Gives Foundation. Military veterans Brian Calloway and Ed Council opened their hearts and homes to Rogue and Rusty, service dogs trained to provide medical assistance and emotional support for many years to come.
Also in attendance was Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class (SEAL) David Rutherford, top motivational speaker, best-selling author, performance coach, podcast host and tactical training expert. David served 8 years in the Naval Special Warfare Community as a SEAL student, Combat Paramedic, Operator and Instructor. David has inspired special operations units around the globe to push themselves past any and all known limitations.
James Brennan, Jr. was presented with the inaugural American Patriot Award at the gala. The award recognizes local individuals who show a commitment to military service members and their families. Mr. Brennan is the President and Owner of SEA BOX, a company that supplies shipping containers and expeditionary shelters to all branches of the armed services. These designs provide easily deployable shelters for the machines and tools needed to service military hardware in the field with extensive savings on energy costs. Mr. Brennan has surely made a positive impact on our military.
