First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to kids and teens. Through after-school and in-school programs, First Tee helps shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect, and perseverance through the game of golf.
With the commitment made by The Patriot Fund, First Tee – Greater Baltimore was able to kick start a First Tee program location at Aberdeen Proving Ground! This new location will be used to serve young golfers of the local military community as opposed to having to travel to Baltimore City. With this financial support, this exciting program will officially begin in 2023!
Because of YOUR support and donations made to The Patriot Fund, together we are making a BIG difference in the lives of Veterans and their families!
First Tee – Greater Baltimore was conceptualized in 2002 by a group of Baltimore business leaders who understood the need for after school and summer educational programs for the City’s youth. Being golfers themselves and having learned about the good work done by First Tee on a National basis, the plan was put in motion to establish a Chapter in Baltimore in order to teach Baltimore’s youth, core values and life skills through the game of golf. On June 26, 2006 the dream of having a Chapter in Baltimore became reality as The First Tee of Greater Baltimore officially opened.
Since its inception on June 26, 2006, First Tee – Greater Baltimore operates from five Baltimore City facilities: Forest Park, Mt. Pleasant, Pine Ridge, Carroll Park, and Clifton Park Golf Courses. All courses are operated by the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation, and provide a low-cost public course option for the city’s youth golfers. First Tee – Greater Baltimore’s short game Learning Center located at Clifton Park Golf Course is home to the majority of educational and instructional programming. In addition to the golf course and Learning Center, First Tee – Greater Baltimore utilizes indoor classroom space, which is available in the Historic, Clifton Mansion that lies adjacent to the Learning Center.
In July 2015, the chapter broke ground at Forest Park Golf Course to build an additional learning center for First Tee – Greater Baltimore. This new facility, The Caves Valley Golf Club Foundation Learning Center at Forest Park, is now in full operation and features five target greens, practice bunkers, a putting green, and an indoor classroom. The Learning Center has allowed the chapter to double its reach within the West Baltimore community.
