Our Community Salutes’ mission is to recognize and honor high school enlistees and their commitment to military service and to provide parents/guardians of enlistees with community support as their son or daughter transition into military service.
COVID forced us (Our Community Salutes) to cancel all 40-plus OCS High School Enlistee Recognition Ceremonies across the country, including the six OCS Ceremonies in South Jersey and Philadelphia. The article is available online at: https://bit.ly/2BKcoRh.
But no virus was going to stop this old soldier from completing his mission, so we used the resources we had (including The Patriot Fund’s donation) to produce and broadcast America Salutes, our historic and star-studded broadcast in July to honor the entire nation’s Class of 2020 high school seniors who plan to enlist into the military after graduation!
America Salutes is co-hosted by Terry Crews (NBC’s America’s Got Talent) and Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine. It features the Secretary of Defense and other senior military leaders and veterans across all services, musical performances from well-known artists, and “thank you” video messages from celebrities, parents, and service members in the field…including a US Astronaut and Navy CPT aboard the International Space Station.
