The Bourgeois Family Fund

Dear Patriot Fund supporters,

We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Commander Brian Bourgeois. Brian graduated from the Naval Academy and served honorably on SEAL Team 8 when he passed this week succumbing to injury suffered during a training incident this past weekend. Brian leaves behind a wife and five children ranging from 18 to 2 years-old. All of our hearts are heavy to say the least.

At The Patriot Fund, we are all moved when we hear such stories of loss. Men like Brian put our Country ahead of all else and we must take the time and recognize when they pay the ultimate price – in service, training or as a Veteran.

In the military, “Got Your Six” means “I’ve got your back.” The saying originated with World War I fighter pilots referencing the rear of an airplane as the six o’clock position. If you picture yourself at the center of a clock face, the area directly in front of you is twelve o’clock. Six o’clock is what lies behind you. On a battlefield, your “six” is the most vulnerable. So, when someone tells you that they’ve “got your six,” it means they’re watching your back. By extension, that person expects you to have their back as well. “Got your six” is now a ubiquitous term in the military that also highlights the way military members look out for each other. Brian represents the most honorable of us all, and we at The Patriot Fund like to believe we have his Six!

“I am proud to say The Patriot Fund immediately reacted to this news and the Executive Committee authorized an immediate grant to the 501(c)3 supporting Brian’s family. Of course, if you personally feel the desire to support further, you should feel free to do so. We (The Patriot Fund organization) took immediate action. This is what we do!” – Todd Sherman, President & Co Founder of The Patriot Fund

We hope and trust others will support his family during this terrible challenge and in the time to follow.
